Surf looks fun in the waist + range and clean. Storms are starting to clear out, Get on it!!! I will try & update some photos later…
Since it’s cold outside and even colder small waves, how bout we reminisce about past summer storm juice…
Remember Hurricane Wilma? I know I do & so does Ricky…check out some old footage below!
We have a small bump out there this morning. Not much but super clean and super cold. About knee to thigh maybe occasional waist. Air temp on the beach is 39 with a wind chill of 37! too cold for this guy…Skim has potential down to the east of the pier, once again if you are willing to endure the brutal cold.
Only the hardcore small wave chargers need apply

Click the pic below for a photo set of the sick skim from last week (last day of the swell)!
I am guessing you got the memo that it’s cold again! Flat too, not much surf in the forecast this week, but a chance of snow?!
However, Hands across the sand (anti oil drilling off our coastline) demonstration is this Saturday. People are to meet @ the Okaloosa Island pier that morning, WEAR A BLACK SHIRT TO SYMBOLIZE A OIL SPILL.
Call Fluid Surf Shop (or follow the link) 850-244-3554 for time details etc.
Also Check out Navarre’s premier “locals” sandwich shop. Across from the visitors center(at the bridge) and next to TC’s front porch. Best food & deals in town…locally owned & operated by Navarre Firefighters!
Rain is coming down & the surf is up this morning! Not much to speak of currently though.
It is only waist to maybe belly or larger on the sets(nobody out). The wind has calmed down to a light onshore flow out of the south but the conditions are still a bit mixed up & semi choppy. Forecast is to turn more out of the NW later today, that will help to clean it up, however it will remain on the small side. Could be fun on the longboard, a bit mushy for the shortboard, but ridable. The last reading on the buoys was at 5 ft and high tide is at 5:28 PM.
Skim may get better with the tide too, but maybe shin to thigh right now.
I think John Russel caught Yancy in a snuggie!…great idea to change in the parking lot actually…sweet snuggie
Check out Surf Smooths video of today in P’cola. Looked like they got the fun part of the swell!
7:30 AM Saturday:
Surf is still up in the waist to maybe chest(with rare freak head peaks) high clean surf. A bit of a east drift causing for some extra paddling this morning. It is cold out at about 50 degrees and a west to NW wind on it so bring your hood, goves, ect.
It’s not epic but fun for a longboard or fishable if you want to brave the cold. The waves should be dropping all day so get it while you can!
Some of the better photos from this morning…
Surf is still in the head high range. A couple of dudes out, not catching much and the wind is a brisk side-shore with some NW in it. Photos make it look better than really is, but there are waves coming in. It appears that the waves are dropping, seas are 6 ft currently. Let’s hope tomorrow morning brings us fun conditions!
Huge surf on tap early this AM.
Still messed up a bit. Winds are forecast to go NW today so we’ll have to wait and see if it gets better. Check back for updates!
We have waves building in the waist high range. Strong east winds on it currently with building seas in the 6-9 ft range later today. Looks like tomorrow afternoon or Sat AM may be the time to catch it. Stay tuned!
Yet another video of this weekends surf over in P’cola. Surf Smooth!
Also sorry not much updates on the skim lately. If you haven’t noticed it’s been cold as balls out here!(whatever that means…) and the surf has been epic by gulf standards this month(if you haven’t noticed that too!).
The skim has been fair, beaches still steep under and to the west of the new pier. On a high tide it looks to hold a waist high beach break if you’re willing to brave the elements! No photos because no skimmers. Spring is around the corner so get ready!
